2018-20 Diversity Grant

Thanks to a generous grant from NCF Envirothon and the US Forest Service, Massachusetts Envirothon announces a special grant opportunity for the 2019-2020 program year.

Assistance is available for schools in economically disadvantaged communities with high levels of racial and ethnic diversity.  We are most interested in reaching African American and Hispanic youth, as these groups are historically under-represented and underserved.  Our primary source for identifying and ranking schools for diversity grant assistance will be school profiles compiled by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (see http://profiles.doe.mass.edu/).  However, general school data in many cases may not be the best indicator of needs of a particular school’s team.  Coaches who believe their teams meet these criteria should contact Mass Envirothon.

Preference will be given to:

  • teams that are new to Mass Envirothon or have not competed in the last 3 years.
  • teams/coaches that are able to attend the UMass workshop on 10/30/19.

Funding is available to offset costs for transportation, substitute teachers and program registration. For more information or to apply for the grant, please fill out the form below, or contact massenvirothon@gmail.com. Applications are due by October 16, 2019 at 5pm.
